Collect the model, not just the marketing name
Copy the model field from the appliance label or original paperwork. A serial number identifies an individual unit; a model identifies its design. Names such as Elite, Duet or Cabrio can cover multiple models and are not enough for parts or code matching.
Write the shortest useful symptom story
Include the main symptom, cycle stage, visible water and exact display code. Add when it started, whether it repeats and anything already attempted. If a part was replaced, list it without assuming that excludes every other cause.
Plan access without moving heavy equipment
Mention a dryer above the washer, a narrow closet, stairs, parking rules or a gated building. Do not unstack or pull out heavy equipment alone. Ask whether a second person or equipment movement is included.
Ask about the diagnostic visit
Ask how the diagnostic fee works, whether it is credited toward approved work, and whether parts, labor, tax and a return visit are separate. A request for a quote is not a promise of a free on-site diagnosis.
Check warranty and authorization first
If you may have manufacturer, retailer, service-plan or landlord coverage, use that channel before authorizing private work. Keep the paperwork and ask who must approve the visit. Do not assume an independent provider is factory authorized.
Make a repair brief
The on-device brief tool below creates text you can copy or download. It does not submit a request, send a message or pass your notes through a phone call automatically.
